Recycle!
Recycling is probably the most
important and the easiest way the average person can help save the planet. We
humans use so much, that just a percentage of that can help allot. Plastic
bottles, cans, boxes, oil and paper can all be recycled. You can make a compost
heap and save lots of room in you trash and the land fills. Making it habit is
the key to making it easy. My family and I use to generate 3-4 bags of trash
every week. When we started recycling and create a compost pile, we now only
create one bag of trash and it usually is not full. That is a huge difference,
and every person/family can do the same. Most cities and local communities have a recycling
program and more people are using these wonderful programs.
Energy Efficient Appliances and High mileage cars
Try using and driving energy efficient appliance and equipment. This is not as easy
as recycling, because this takes money. I still drive a 96' Chevy Camaro because I
cannot afford a new hybrid or high mileage automobile, however, I am working on
it like
I hope everyone will. The easiest way is to buy these appliances when the old
ones break down. Did you know that the U.S. is at the bottom of mileage wars,
even China has a higher standard than the U.S. China and pretty much every
other country in the world understands the problem and do realize that just as
much money can be made by moving forward to being 'green'. The U.S. will have a
huge economic drop off because of this. China and India will leap in front of
the U.S. in many things, because they are trying to reduce their carbon output.
We the People, of the United States must encourage our government to do
what is right, our country depends on it. Buying and using energy efficient
appliances, driving high mileage cars and using the abundant renewable resources
can save allot of energy. An Inconvenient Truth with Al Gore, is a documentary
that every American citizen should watch. I do not know if it is kosher for me to
say that, but it shows just how far behind the U.S. is in the fight against
Global warming.
Renewable Resources
Air power, windmills,
like the one you see here, are an up and coming power source, that is becoming
pretty affordable. A friend of mine had one installed and it will pay for
over 2/3 of his energy usage. There are grants to help finance the Windmill and
construction to put it up. Depending on your land, where you live and the
resources you have to spend, you can get a small output or a huge output. The
bigger you get, the more energy it produces. You can even create so much
electricity, that the power company will pay you for it.
Solar Power; I have to
admit I do not know allot about solar power, but I do know it also is
coming into its own. It still is a little pricey, but there are companies working
on it. I recently saw a new solar technology that is a film, it absorbs and can be a thin film anywhere on the house or building. This will
enhance its appeal to the customers.
No matter how you try to help save the planet,
just please try to help
create less carbon and usage of this planets resources.
